Why lying to me is worse than lying to your wife, Edwards

Dear John Edwards,

What year was it that President Clinton went on television and denied having sex with “that woman?”

I forget, and I’m too pissed off to look it up right now.

You see, when you lie to your wife, that’s between you and her.

After all, she has vowed to stick by you no matter what.

But as a registered voter, I start with the assumption that you, and every other candidate selling his/her soul to get elected is lying about some things.

I’ve been burned too many times, in the past, to start from any other belief system

So when you deny an affair to the press, an affair that did you have, you make me question your intelligence.

How , in the name of all that is holy, did you think you were going to get away with lying about your affair?

In this age of instant communications, of fifth graders making videos with their cell phones, and people making a good living from digging dirt on the rich and stupid, anybody thinking they will can get away with anything, myself included, is a delusional dummy.

It was an arrogant, stupid move on your part.

So lie to your wife all you want.

That’s her problem, and yours.

But Jethro, don’t lie to me, because you don’t get another chance.

I didn’t stand in a church and vow to love and obey.

You need to prove to me that you are the man, and that you won’t insult my intelligence by lying.

Maybe someday you will come back politically, and maybe I’ll be dead by then, or too old to fill out my absentee ballot.

But I’ll just bet there are lots of other Democrats out there who aren’t declaring it’s a family matter, between the husband and wife.

I’ll wager a lot of people feel just like me, and who have declared ourselves divorced from you and are moving on to another political relationship.

In short, Jethro, you lost my vote forever.

Sincerely,

Johnantha Q. Citizen, registered Democrat

Saturday thoughts

I woke up at 6:16 a.m. this morning and could not get back to sleep.

Hate when I do that.

Finally got up about 7:10 a.m., let the dog out, and made coffee.

Now it’s just after 1:00 p.m., my laundry’s almost done, and I’m ready for a little nap.

I’ve been listening to the news around the world and here are my thoughts:

–It’s Caylee Anthony’s 3rd birthday, and I’m praying this little sweetie is alive somewhere

–I mourn for the death of Todd Bachman, the American tourist in Beijing.

–I can’t stand liars, and John Edwards lied. Anybody who thinks they can get away with anything in this world of instant information is a horse’s patootie. John, we are all human, we all make mistakes, and I would have forgiven you quicker if you had just told the ‘arfing truth. As of this minute, I would not vote for John Edwards, alone or with another candidate, for ANY office, let alone president.

Okay, that’s the scoop from me, at least for now.

I’m a wee bit prickly right now, so I’ll just sat TTFN.
