Hail, Caesar? Are you kidding me?

Last night I went to see The latest Coen brothers film with some friends.

We walked out, I think it was after thirty minutes or so.

It felt like an eternity.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Coen brothers films, usually.

Hail, Caesar is a stinker. Despite a star-studded cast, the film meanders all over the place in search of a story that makes any sense at all.

Hail, Caesar takes place during the 1950’s, at a major Hollywood movie studio.

I can’t tell you any more, because I kept falling asleep. Hail, Caesar failed to make me give a shit about what was going to happen next.

The only good thing about the experience was I had an excellent time with some good friends.

B.Burcroff gives Hail, Caesar 0% on her stink-o-meter.

This weekend I am going to see The Witch! I will give you that review next week.

Taking a breather

The last 2-3 months have been really busy for me.

I know; I’m retired, right?

I’m a soccer granny these days, and I love it! It’s a way for me to spend time with the grand kiddoes, but also stay active. Moving keeps my blood sugars down, and my mood at an even keel.

But it’s been busy, as I said. I got kind of tired out. But thanks to my son Jay and my new daughter-in-law Aya, I’m getting some time to chill!

I hope to spend some time with friends tomorrow night (happy hour+movie), then Saturday night I’ve got an reservation at a swank area hotel (the jacuzzi suite, thanks again Jay & Aya).

So staying busy is good, but so is taking a breather!

It’s 57 degrees F in Seattle today, a few clouds but some sun also! I’m sitting on the back porch watching Rose and just breathing…

Diabetes update

I’m doing so much better!

All the changes I’ve made are helping:  nighttime insulin, increased exercise, and  paying attention to what and how much I eat every day.

I’ve tripled my daily activities since December, averaging between 5-6,000 steps a day. My goal is 10,000 steps a day!

I’m feeling lots better, have more energy, and am noticing my mood has improved also.

Onward and upward!

Blogging note: I am still trying to figure out how to use my Google pics here on WordPress. I’m posting via iPhone, and as usual it’s taking me some time to figure it all out! Ha!

Connecting

I got my first computer in 1996. It was a desktop, and I thought it was the greatest toy I’ve ever had. Connecting to the Internet was a frustrating experience for me, at least at first.

I was in graduate school, and it was expected that I would become computer and Internet proficient. Quickly.

Social work students are kindly folks, usually, and a few of my fellow grad students helped me a lot. I learned how to navigate my computer and the Internet world.

My next computer was a laptop, and I was amazed all over again. I could carry my computer around with me! Awesome!

Tonight I’m connecting to the Internet via iPhone. Most nights I also use my Kindle Fire to read email and watch my shows on Netflix and Hulu.

Holy moley.

I don’t really need a computer anymore!

Modern technology makes me happy!

I just have to move pictures over from my laptop. I’m working on it!
