Quote for the day

Silence is a source of great strength. ~Lao Tzu

Today I had to make a choice, and I’m proud of the choice I made.

It was an internal war, for a few moments.

I could feel my blood pressure go up a bit.

Then I took a few deep breaths, and sat still for ~10 minutes.

Then I made my choice: Silence.

Feels good.

All’s right in my world, as my favorite television show got renewed for a fifth season.

It’s only 13 episodes, but I will deal.

This is such a good show, with a plot that keeps me awake nights, well developed characters that I love, and lots of twists and turns. FOX loses money on this show, but they’re aware of the show’s devoted fan base.

And now the ratings are up a bit!

Excellent!

Where in the world have I been?

Blogging experts will tell you not to explain absences from your blog, but as many of you know, I march to the beat of a different drummer.

I’ve been absent from this blog due to a combination of factors, some good, some bad. Here’s the reasons:

–Life. Working, reading books, writing some reviews at Pure Textuality, family stuff has kept me happily busy.

–Blogging apathy. Have you ever gone through a period of time when you feel that you have nothing to contribute? That’s where I’ve been “at” for the past few months. It’s been a cold, wet winter here in Seattle, colder than normal, and I guess I’m just not used to being so cold. Which is hilarious, since I grew up in upstate New York, on the banks of Lake Ontario, and have lived through snowstorms that keep one marooned at home for days.

–My blogging apathy may also be attributed to my lack of comments on other blogs. I just could not think of anything of worth to say! I’ve always felt it’s better to say nothing, instead of pecking out words that are trite.

–And finally, to my absolute dismay, I’ve been sidelined for almost two weeks with whooping cough. We’ve had an epidemic of whooping cough in Washington State. Thanks to a number of medications, I’m doing much better, but still lacking my usual energy. I’m in bed every night by 9:00 p.m., asleep shortly after, and dragging a bit when I get up the next morning.

So.

That’s what I’ve been up to.

I plan to catch up on blogs in the next week, and may even find something worthwhile to offer in the way of comments!

Right now, I’m off to the local youth theater to see my grandson J perform in Grease.

Have a nice weekend!
