Have a Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

I’m putting my New Year message now, because we’ve got storms coming in to Seattle.

Again.

This time, the forecast calls for high winds and rain.

That means we could lose power.

Yikes!

Anyhoo, have a Happy New Year.

New Firefox Toolbar

New Years and Holiday 2009 Boom!

This is a really cool Mozilla Add-on that comes with Yahoo on the toolbar also.

The toolbar comes with Google and Yahoo search boxes, a countdown to New Year, and buttons for Times Square and New Year’s Info.

And, as always with Firefox Add-ons (at least in my experience), this toolbar is downloaded and ready to go in about two minutes.

Breezy Monday

It was so windy today that my knit cap almost blew off.

And cold.

Don’t get me wrong; I’m not complaining.

It was heavenly to walk on sidewalks with no ice and snow.

And I only waited 15 minutes for my bus home.

Right now I’m huddled in my special chair, wearing my favorite comfy bathrobe.

I’m off to bed soon, and I wish you all a wonderful Tuesday!

Cabin fever, ice, and garbage

Forty degrees and rain.

I love it.

My street is almost completely clear of snow and ice.

The garbage guys did not make it today.

Maybe tomorrow.

The best news is that the sidewalks are clear, mostly, so getting to work (and home) tomorrow shouldn’t be too bad.

It was so difficult getting to and from work for the last ten days. It’s been bitter cold, slippery, etc.

I’ve gotten so spoiled, living in Seattle since 2000, because we have so few ice and snow storms. I’ve taken for granted the ability to come and go as I please, and this stretch of bad weather has been really hard for me to handle.

We are expected to get rain mixed with snow throughout the week, but trace accumulation.

Let’s hope so!

I wish you all a wonderful Monday.

TTFN.

And it keeps on melting

This is very exciting.

I actually walked on the SIDEWALK today, a stretch with no snow or ice!

The temperature is a few degrees above freezing right now.

It’s raining, and we could see a few flakes of snow today and tomorrow.

But the worst appears to be over.

Our neighborhood is expecting a garbage pickup today!

I may take a walk later and enjoy some fresh air for a change.

TTFN!

How come I have not been reading?

Reading has always been a joy for me, at least since the 2nd grade.

Like a junkie who needs a fix, I read books one after another, and I’m consumed by my love affair with the printed word.

But every so often, I go on the wagon and stop reading for pleasure.

I watch television, play on my computer for endless hours, and read only as a matter of necessity.

I’ve been reading very little in the past month, for a number of reasons:

-The weather has been very cold, snowy, and icy. It’s been an unusually cold and wintry month in Seattle. Walking and just getting to and from work has been difficult. When I get home, I just want to wrap myself up in blankets and heavy sweaters and veg out in front of the television.

-I applied for, and was offered, a promotion at my job. I’m suddenly way too busy at work, and as my new job is administrative (instead of clinical), I’m surrounded by the printed word all day long.

-The holidays. Buying Christmas gifts, spending time with my family, and eating way too much food has dulled my brain.

The weather is finally clearing up a bit, and I’m considering a book to read for fun.

Finally!

Time to embrace reading again.

RNC chairman candidate defends ‘Barack the Magic Negro’ song – CNN.com

RNC chairman candidate defends 'Barack the Magic Negro' song – CNN.com

“I think most people recognize political satire when they see it,” Tennessee Republican Chip Saltsman told CNN. “I think RNC members understand that.”

Good old Chip wants to be the RNC Chairman.

Here’s what the current RNC Chairman has to say:

“The 2008 election was a wake-up call for Republicans to reach out and bring more people into our party,” RNC Chairman Mike Duncan said in a statement reported Saturday afternoon by Politico.

Apparently, conservative gopher Rush Limbaugh played the Barack song on his radio show.

Another classless move by the sore loser faction of the Republican Party.

Nirvana – About A Girl: 1993/Live On MTV Unplugged

I listened to this song countless times on Christmas Day.

My grandchildren (and my son) used this song to practice their new Wii Guitar Hero.

I like this song!

I like this movie even better.

What can I say?

I’m a Disney movie freak!
