My weird reading habits and the internet

I spend a lot of time on the internet.

Too much time, I think.

I’ve become used to reading blog posts instead of books.

My attention span has narrowed, and I just want to pick up information quickly, without taking the time to savor an author’s words.

This makes me sad, because I just love words!

For example, I’ve been trying to finish “The Pillars of the Earth” since June.

It’s a good book, but 506 991 pages long (I’m on page 486 right now).

I’ll read a chapter, then put it down so I can spend time blogging.

I’ve read a number of other books since June, just cannot seem to finish Pillars of the Earth.

It’s a good book, and I want to finish it so I can read the sequel “World Without End.”

So I guess that I’ll stop blogging right now and get reading!

Why is it so hard to upload pictures?

I will admit, I have not been using this blog a lot.

Some of the changes here are great, but why is it so hard to upload and insert pictures into my post?

And the help menu is useless, because I keep getting an error message!

Too frustrating!

It’s decided: I’m not smart enough to up load pictures on this blog.

I did it.

Now I have to go rest, because I feel like I’ve just given birth.

Taking life a bit slower

I’m taking life a bit easier these days, and will only be blogging at Gran Speaks for now.

I’m okay, just getting used to a new medication, and taking care of myself.

Put a face to poverty by getting to know one poor person, one poor family. Listen to their stories.

Write about your experiences getting to know the real people living in poverty.

I’m also sorry that you did not give me your name, because I would have liked the chance to say a proper good-bye, and make sure I don’t visit your blog again. I do not wish to offend you.

See, here’s the deal.

I gave up blogging a few times in the past year or so, then came back because I enjoy blogging.

Blogging helps me to relax and unwind after a long day, and a long week, of work.

In the last year, I learned that I would blog even if no one commented, because it’s fun.

But when I’m not blogging, I have a life.

I have a job, family, friends, even a modest social life that is of my choosing.

The knowledge that someone I have known in the blogging world no longer “likes” me gives me a few twinges of sadness, I will admit.

But I will live, I promise.

Because this is just a flippin’ blog, after all.

One small corner of my life.

And so, Anonymous, I wish you a long life filled with love and laughter and good health.

May your blog be #1 on Technorati, and may dooce beat her breast and weep when she reads how much you earned in ad revenue for the year 2008.
